The Duval County Public Schools (DCPS), located in Jacksonville, Florida, is committed to ensuring that all students receive the necessary support to thrive academically and emotionally. With the increasing challenges of mental health accessibility, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic, DCPS recognized the need for an innovative approach to expand access to better support students' mental and physical health.
To meet the need, the district integrated a telehealth model into its multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework, making Hazel Health's services a critical component of its strategy to remove health-related barriers to student learning.
Hazel’s impact has been both immediate and measurable - including:
- 20% less likely to be chronically absent post-therapy compared to their chronically absent peers who did not receive Hazel’s services
- 52% of students saw reduction in behavioral incidents post-therapy after referral to Hazel’s online therapy program
